South India Leathers
S.I LEATHERS: Christopolo® introduces unique collection using South India (S. I) leathers. First discovered and popularized by the Mughuls and supported by East India company. The leathers manufactured in South India using traditional methods of vegetable tanning, was appreciated as one of the highest quality leather around the world for over five decades. The S.I leather production declined when chemically tanned leather was promoted at the stake of lowering the cost of functionality and ease of tanning produced by tanneries around Tamil Nadu.
S.I leather was acknowledged by registration under the geographical indications of India in 2008. Thereby giving international recognition and paving path for its revival. Christopolo® aims to revive the lost art by bringing this 200yr old heritage back to the retail forefront. The collection has range for both men and women, that is modern and minimal with clean lines that focus on the beauty of the leather.
